Placing Leaders are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Commercial Glazing Technician.  The successful candidate will be responsible for successful repairs to glazing on commercial buildings around the Stockport, Manchester, Warrington or Doncaster area, you should be an experienced glazier with experience and certification to work at height and with good customer liaison skills.  The main functions of the job role are outlined below:

1. Role Purpose: To undertake all assigned planned work in relation to surveys, installations, repairs and make safe/secure in accordance with company policy and procedures.

2. Key

Accountabilities:

  • To meet where possible with Customers on site, explain the role of the company, the process followed, the Service Standards to be met and discuss customer requirements and options with the customer e.g. betterment.
  • Validate claim is consistent with damage and to repudiate if necessary ensuring completion of repudiation form and notification to the Branch.
  • To ensure all onsite compliance is completed in regards to client instructions
  • To ensure a safety risk assessment is undertaken and recorded on appropriate documentation, and complete appropriate method statements.
  • To ensure that the policy excess is collected.
  • To ensure all clent specific paperwork is filled in and returned on time
  • To undertake assigned installation/repair jobs to appropriate standards & time allocation.
  • To undertake all work in accordance with company Health & safety policies & practices including wearing the correct PPE.
  • To accurately, fully & legibly complete & return all documentation for each job.
  • To ensure possession of all necessary goods, tools & equipment to complete all assigned work.
  • To ensure that appropriate photographs are taken of all damage (before – after DIPS).
  • To maintain & keep in good condition the company vehicle and all issued property & equipment, ensuring the van is roadworthy.
  • To ensure vehicle checks are complete on a weekly basis on fleet app
  • To work in a safe manner at all times taking into consideration of colleagues, customers and the general public and following all company direction in terms of health and safety updates and toolbox talks.
  • To report all near misses and accidents through SHE app each and everytime
  • To use and keep up to date your individual MyHR details and administer any requests and advise of any issues immediately
  • To ensure all van stock is up to date without any shortages and report any shortages at the earliest opportunity
  • To create a favourable & professional image in respect of the company to customers, insurance companies, colleagues, & the public in general, at all times.
  • To ensure that all Trainees are given appropriate training and guidance so that they meet the requirements of their development plan.
  • To ensure that information security policies and procedures are adhered to as defined in Company Security Management System (ISMS), and that all information security incidents are reported promptly.

Experience, Skills & Qualities

Qualifications & Experience Dependent on grade / level of Engineer –

  • Minimum of level 2 NVQ in fenestration or MTC card
  • Minimum 2 years experience in similar role with suitable skills i.e: glass filming, glass cutting in depot and on site and commercial frame fitting, curtain walling, shuffle glazing and architectural glazing skills desirable.
