We are recruiting on behalf of our clients for a Head of Operations. 

Our client is a world class UK manufacturer of Aluminium Windows, Doors and Curtain Walling.  The company operate from their factory close to the centre of Birmingham, West Midlands and either manufacture using free issue material or alternatively provide a full solution to include material supply and manufacture. 

About the role
As Head of Operations you are responsible for driving and co-ordinating all operational elements of the business, ensuring all production and sales processes are aligned and that all employees understand their role in delivering high quality products to customers. 
You will proactively plan and organise production activity and own the full manufacturing cycle from quote to delivery. As a manufacturing business, Health and Safety are of critical importance and as one of responsible people, you will be required to proactively manage and drive compliance to this.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Business and Planning:
Define and communicate the short-term business priorities, typically mapping out the next 3-6 months of sales and production activity 
Take responsibiity for reviewing and updating the production plan and ensuring this working document is understood and adhered to by the operational team, regular weekly meetings are to be held, to include; Sales and Head of factory to formulate the planned manufacture requirements and identify any immediate concerns.
Support the Managing Director to deliver key projects to improve the business and broaden the customer base 
Provide advice and input regarding the physical factory layout to optimise production processes and space utilisation 
Keep factory processes under a review schedule, aiming to always optimise production efficiency 
Maintain regular and effective communication with the Managing Director, ensuring any business or production issues are communicated in a timely manner
People management and communication:
Responsible for the day to day line management of the operational team, to include management of attendance, performance and training.
Work with the factory supervisors to ensure a people plan is in place, identifying where, when and who is required to ensure the smooth running of the factory 
Ensure all employees understand performance requirements and support the identification of team development and training needs 
Implement day to day management practices to ensure a solid and cohesive operational team, including team meetings, regular process and order updates and general regular business communication   
Customer management: 
Be the key point of contact for customers, taking ownership of order queries and setting clear expectations for completion of work 
Create and maintain positive customer relationships, understanding when the business can fulfil short notice requirements and when firm timescales should be adhered to.
Ensure that systems are in place to support optimal customer interactions and order fulfilment    
Health & safety:
Ensure compliance with legislation, particularly in respect of H&S, ensuring the relevant processes (Fire and accident prevention) are in place and that staff training is undertaken when required
Ensure site security and emergency procedures are clear and adhered to
